The Scouts give children and young adults from all parts of society the opportunity to develop to their full potential, in a safe environment where everyone can be themselves. We do it with the scout-method as a pedagogical basis and live according to the values expressed in scout teams and in the scout pledge. We promise adventure, excitement, a community and Sweden’s best scout leaders. We are changing the world for the better – both locally and globally.
All children and young people have the right to a safe existence and to feel part of the community where they have settled, whether it is short- or long-term, and we all have a responsibility to be involved in creating that safeness and those meeting places. The Scouts have a broad range of activities for the children and youth, and we are convinced that we can create a community that is needed for the open and safe life that should be self-evident for everyone who lives in Sweden.
For a couple of years now, the Scouts have been conducting a major change work with the aim of opening up and making the operations accessible to more people. The work has mainly been aimed at established activities but also to newly started activities, i.e. established or new association activities for children and young adults around the country. With support from H.M. Queen Silvia’s Foundation CATCH, we can work to add activities for all the children and adolescents who recently, or in the future, come to Sweden and are in need of activities, fellowship, a laugh or new friends – a safe leisure time. The project has produced support and method material, which we use to be able to support our Scouts to go out and do activities where newly arrived children and young people are located, as well as to invite more people to their activities. In other words, the project aims to compile tools, knowledge and inspiration and spread them so that we can then quickly and widely reach all the children and young people we are convinced would love to take part in Scout activities.
